Mustached Horse Guild About Us

Welcome to the about page of the Mustached Horse Guild (formerly operating under the Northeast Ohio Shetland Pony and Miniature Horse Breeders Association), which began long before we started hosting horse shows. Our interests started early when we began hosting youth and amateur events, such as junior judging and showmanship clinics with various equine professionals, including a former judge form the 1996 Olympics. We had been considering starting our own show when we were surprisingly approached to take over one of the biggest shows in the country, the Buckeye Spring Classic, which was held in Ashland, Ohio. As participation in Miniature/Shetland shows waned, we explored other options for keeping sanctioned shows going for our loyal exhibitors. It was during this time that we discovered the Gypsy Vanner, a relatively recent imported breed to the United States, was looking for groups to host shows. We are a family run group, who makes many of the awards ourselves, including neck sashes, solid wood and leather award plaques, and embroidered items to keep our cost low for our exhibitors. Our family not only hosts these shows, but also participate in sanctions Gypsy and Miniature horse event as exhibitors ourselves.

Our goal is to run the fairest, safest, and most affordable show possible because we would like to see our exhibitors able to show in as many events throughout the year as possible. The best breed promotion is getting out there! Showcasing the ideal breed standard horses and most talented exhibitors acts as inspiration to other aspiring young exhibitors. Our aim has been to offer the greatest number of classes possible, while honoring special class requests.

Today we run 2 sanctioned Gypsy/Drum/Draft events, and we are exploring adding additional shows and breed divisions to the lineup. Our current 2 shows are the Great Lake Spring Classic (Michigan) and Buckeye Summer Classic (Jackson, Ohio).

We hope you enjoy our website, enjoy our shows even more, and would consider recommending us to your friends as well as providing us with feedback of your experiences with our show and staff. Show premiums are available on the individual show pages, and entries may be made online via Gaitkeeper.com. Feel free to contact us via the contact link or via Facebook on the Mustached Horse Guild page, which will feature current information regarding the show. Our show manager, Sherri Jolliff, of Cornerstone Show Management, is one of the most talented and organized managers in the industry and will be happy to assist with your questions and entries. Hope to see you soon!
